Shane Williams takes home two awards at ceremony on 02-24-12

 On Friday, 02-24-12, an awards ceremony was held at the conclusion of the Virginia Christian Athletic Association Tournament.  Shane Williams won two awards.  The first award was for the Player of The Year for the 2011-12 season.  The second award was an All-Conference award.  The Player of the Year Award is presented to the player that the coaches and athletic directors feel demonstrated outstanding play during the regular conference season.  It is the highest award presented for the all around best player in the conference.  The All-Conference award is presented to athletes that would represent their team on an All-Conference team of players for the season. 

Congratulations to Shane Williams on an outstanding season.  His points per game average for 21 games was 33.1.

Shane hits a 3-pointer on his way to 30 points for the game v Banner

Shane Williams and the Grove Falcons traveled to Victory Academy on Tuesday, 02-21-12 to meet Banner Christian in a first round tournament game.  The Falcons fought hard but in the end were not able to pull out a win.  Shane Williams once again led the Grove Falcons with 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 1 steal.  This was the final game of the season for Shane Williams at the high school level.  He will continue to play on the YMCA team thru March 10.  He will then be playing AAU basketball thru July.  Continue to check his blog for highlights of the YMCA and AAU games.  His final average in points per game thru 21 games is 33.1.

Shane Williams and the Grove Falcons traveled to CVHAA (Central Virginia Homeschool Athletic Association) on Friday, 02-17-12.  Grove fell behind early and were not able to recover to end the game in a loss for Grove.  Shane Williams once again led the Falcons with 21 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assist, and 1 steal.  This was the last regular season game for the Grove Falcons.  Shane Williams ends the regular season of 20 games with an average points per game of 33.2.

Shane Williams hits a free throw on his way to scoring 39 points v New Life

Shane Williams and his Grove Falcons traveled to take on the New Life Lions in Farmville, Va.  on Monday Night, 02-13-12 .  The Falcons fell behind in the second quarter and were down 18 points at the half,  The Falcons led by Shane Williams fought hard in the third and fourth quarters but came up to lose the contest by only three points with a final score of Grove 57 and New Life 60.  Shane Williams once again demonstrated his superior ball handling skills and excellent shooting to lead the Falcon attack. Shane had 39 points, 6 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 assist in this game.  FT 9/12= 75%, 3-pt 2/3= 66.7%, and FG 14/32= 43.8%.  Shane's season average in points per game thru 19 games now stands at 33.8.

The Grove Falcons traveled to Virginia Beach on 02-10-12 to take on the Beach Breakers  The Falcons played hard thru the first three quarters.  The Beach Breakers pulled the game out in the fourth quarter and the results was a loss for Grove.  Shane Williams led the way for Grove with 47 points, 9 rebounds, 1 steal, and 1 assist.  Shane topped his previous high of 46 points against West End in January with 47 points against the Beach Breakers.  He picked the Beach Breakers defense apart with his skilled dribbling, superior driving ability, and assortment of accurate pull up jump shots.
Shane's average points per game thru 18 games this season now stands at 33.6.

Grove celebrated Senior Night by hosting Banner Academy on 02-07-12.  The Grove Falcons began the game strong but Banner soon caught up and the end result was a defeat for Grove.  Shane Williams led the way for Grove in his final home game at Grove with 32 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals.Shane's season average in points per game thru 17 games now stands at 32.8  Good Job Shane.

Shane and the Grove Falcons traveled to play against the James River Eagles on 02-03-12.  The Falcons got off to a good start and played well in the first half of the game.  The second half of the game was dominated by the Eagles and the Falcons went down in defeat but not until after a hard fought contest.  Shane Williams led the way for the Falcons with 29 points and superior ball-handling.

Shane hits one of five 3-pointers against Victory on 01-31-12

Shane Williams and the Grove Falcons were host to the Victory Knights on 01-31-12.  The Falcons did not waste any time taking away the Knights swords, armor, and horses to hand the Knights a defeat with a score of Grove 72 and Victory 56.  Shane once again demonstrated his basketball skills to lead the way in the defeat of the Knights.
Shane had 6 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals in this contest.  He had 4/9 free throws for 44.4%; 5/8 three pointers for 62.5%; 17/27 field goals for 63%.  He also scored 43 points in this game.
Shane now has an average of 33.1 points per game thru 15 games this season.
